Quote of the Episode:
“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”
– Bruce Lee
Everywhere you look, there are stories about how some successful person got their start by being “discovered.”
There’s the gorgeous waitress who was trudging through life waiting for her ship to come in…Or, the rugged construction worker who was in the right place at the right time. Success lore like this is based on the exception rather than the rule.
For most of us, there’s no Success Fairy. We’ll never wake up with the keys to the kingdom delivered to our doorstep. Whether or not we think that’s fair, it’s actually a very good thing.
We live in the “Choose Yourself” era. Technology is leveling the playing field in industries that used to be exclusive every day. Hungry visionaries are starting multi-million dollar companies in their living rooms. Why couldn’t that be you?
The thrill of accomplishment – and the maintenance of success – require discipline. The mental muscles that create champions are built steadily over time. As you practice the fundamentals of a successful life, you’ll become the sort of person who attracts opportunities worthy of who you are.
None of this is easy. It’ll mean getting up early, missing out on activities with friends. You’ll have days where you just don’t feel like being bothered – but when you’re in charge, there are no off days.
If you hang in there, and are willing to consistently do the work, nothing can stop you.
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
- You probably won’t get discovered. Good news is, you can create success yourself.
- If you’re focused, consistent and disciplined, success can’t elude you for long.
- Don’t wait for someone else to see your talent. Choose yourself.
